Everyone has a story to tell. When we make the connection between our story and God's great story, we come away with HIStory, which involves each and every one of us.
In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. - John 1:4-5
As I took my walk this morning, I felt His radiant presence over me. The sun was shining so bright, the atmosphere felt light and the aroma was so sweet. I escaped reality for a few minutes and was taken back to that morning when Jesus walked down the Via Dolorosa to His eventual death on the cross. As He walked and carried that cross, the pain that awaited Him on the cross was heavier than anyone could imagine. He awaited separation from His Father. I can imagine the thoughts that went through His mind. But more than the pain He endured, He thought of you and me. His love for us was so grand that He thought about how He was going to save us from never being forsaken from our Father. He would endure this for us.
As I reached home and came back to reality, I realized that my reality is just as sweet. "It is finished." He has conquered and defeated death and the reality is, that you and I have eternal life because of it. The reality is, a great reward awaits us. Every thought we have, every moment we live, should always end with Him at the end of it. Our vision should be God at the end with arms wide open as we run to Him. Our life here is so short in the grand scheme of things. As Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and Joseph awaited the Promised Land and held on to that hope, we await our Promised Land in eternity where there will be a new heaven and a new earth.
On this Holy Friday (Good Friday), I challenge you to stop for 5 minutes at one point in your day to reflect on your reality. If you believe that Jesus is your Savior and He is your Lord, praise Him for what He did on the cross. Praise Him that He did it for you. If Jesus is not your Lord and Savior, take the time to find out more about who He is and the gift He wants to give you: eternal life and everlasting peace. A great place to start is in the book of John.
May our Father bless you on this incredibly special day!
In His Great Love,
